URBAN FELL RUN

COURSE DIRECTIONS

START: Sheaf View Pub Gleadless Road. Cross the road and enter the Gardens. Exit and cross the road to go up Tillotson Rise

At the end of road take right hand path passing swings on left. Cross Kent Road and onto pathway leading to Carrfield Street. Cross and run past the Medical Centre on left and turn right on to Carrfield Road. Cross over and after 20 metres turn left and go up steps to join path to Northcote Road. Turn right and cross, after 20 metres turn left up steps and follow path to Fitzroy Road. Turn left into Fitzroy Road and cross to turn right into Romney Gardens. Go down to the end and follow path leading into Raleigh Road.

Turn right and go down the hill and turn left on to Northcote Avenue. Go up to join Cat Lane and the entrance to Hang Bank Wood

Follow the track ignoring turn to right, until path bends to left at green barrier. Follow the path round to left and back right up the hill and keep right ignoring left fork. Continue along path, through the woodland passing school on left. Cross the bridge at the Dumpit site and turn right up the hill. Climb up the hill to the top and take a sharp left then right turn at the top the hill. Follow the path down and up through Leeshall Wood. Follow the edge of the golf course which is on the right.

Come out of the wood and up the grassy bank to join Gaunt Road and turn right. Cross road and go up for 100yards. Turn left and go up some steps and follow footpath to cross Gaunt Road again and directly on to join Blackstock Road.

Turn right on to Blackstock Road and staying on the right hand side ( you will see the Water Tower straight ahead ) run up for 500 metres, counting Gaunt Drive as 1^st, Backmoor Road is the 4th on the right (after the bus stand). Turn right down Backmoor Road, passing the Nailmakers Pub on right to where it joins Ashbury Lane (pub ). Turn right and follow the lane down into the wood, ignoring turning to the right. (Stunning views over Gleadless Valley ). Stay on main track, golf course to right, passing Newfield School on left. The path drops down and past a pond on right. Carry on and take the left turn past the pond at the Round Sheffield green signpost. Then take a sharp left turn down through the woods green signpost and a right turn to follow the track alongside the stream. This is very slippery, be careful. Follow the track which crosses the stream three times passing some felled trees to join the main track at a green access barrier. Follow the track and turn left down into a wooded area just past the allotments. Follow this to the main path. Cross the main path and follow track up through wood, turning right to join entrance to wood at Northcote Avenue.

Go down Northcote Avenue to the junction. Turn right, cross road and turn left down Albert Road, staying to right. Follow this for 50 metres and turn right up Kent Road at the top of hill turn left down Shirebrook Road until it merges with Albert Road. Turn Right up Plantation Road and on to follow the marked course back through the gardens to the FINISH.
